They were taken this morning at Tower Bridge in London, in light drizzle and from much too far away. However, they&#39;re my first shots of a cormorant actually catching a fish. Problem was, the fish was somewhat wider than the cormorant&#39;s throat. I watched the struggle for about 5 minutes. Lots of head throwing by the bird, flapping by the fish, the occasional dunking and a gradual drift down the Thames of about 100 yards. At which point I had to leave them to it to get to a meeting. Anyway, three not very good shots coming up.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/fox\/cormorants\/album\/slides\/cormorant_1201099527.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img SRC=\"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/fox\/cormorants\/album\/cormorant_1201099527.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><span class=\"aligncenter\">Catching<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/fox\/cormorants\/album\/slides\/cormorant_1201099569.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img SRC=\"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/fox\/cormorants\/album\/cormorant_1201099569.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><span class=\"aligncenter\">Dunking<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/fox\/cormorants\/album\/slides\/cormorant_1201099584.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img SRC=\"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/fox\/cormorants\/album\/cormorant_1201099584.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><span class=\"aligncenter\">Gripping<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fish, by the way, is possibly a flounder.<br \/><span class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/button.php?u=Words\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" alt=\"Nature Blog Network\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/span><br \/><i>Camera note: all shots taken with the EF70-300mm f\/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lens, at ISO 800, f\/5.6 and shutter speeds of between 1\/125 and 1\/200s.
