{"id":1300,"date":"2009-02-02T23:02:24","date_gmt":"2009-02-02T23:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/archives\/1300"},"modified":"2013-11-16T00:25:13","modified_gmt":"2013-11-16T00:25:13","slug":"winter-wonderland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/winter-wonderland\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter wonderland"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Well the south of England closed down today&#8230;<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/blackbird_0202092063.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">A blackbird early this morning<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/greenfinch_0202092073.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">And a female greenfinch<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/horses_02020924111.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/horses_0202092411.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">This afternoon, the horses were out in the fields<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/snow_0202092473.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">And the South Down walks were picturesque<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Around the time of the previous photo, I saw an interesting bird fly past. I followed it to a nearby mast where it had landed.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/wooden_pecker_0202092429.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">Can you see what it is?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Well I was astounded&#8230;.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/wooden_pecker_0202092431.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">A wooden woodpecker!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Clearly that wasn&#39;t the bird I&#39;d seen fly in that direction. I moved to the other side of the tower. <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/kestrel_0202092444.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">That&#39;s more like it. A kestrel<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And no winter scene would be complete without a robin.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/robin_0202092510.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">Winter robin<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are several fox tracks criss-crossing the garden, but the fox itself remains elusive. Odds are it&#39;s been through the garden while I&#39;ve been here typing this. <br \/><span class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/button.php?u=Words\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" alt=\"Nature Blog Network\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/span><br \/><i>Camera note: the first two photos were taken with the EF 100-400mm f\/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens in poor light.
