More from Regent's Park in central London. Away from the lakes, the general impression is that there are lots of pigeons, crows and magpies, with the occasional gull adding a splash of white. And of course blackbirds and tits flitting in the trees. There are other birds though, and this first one caught my eye from a distance. It was pecking on a large area of grass near the playing fields. It wasn't a pigeon, but it was impossible to be certain what it was without moving closer. Which I did. And managed a few shots of this mistle thrush, busy hunting for worms.

Heading back to work, a more vivid flash of movement caused me to divert briefly. A green woodpecker. Unmistakeable, and unusually bold. No-one else noticed it.

That's all for tonight… early start in the morning.
Camera note: both shots taken with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45

[980
513,115
post-1753","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-birds-2","tag-mistle-thrush","tag-woodpecker","entry
["GET
