{"id":1814,"date":"2011-01-08T00:01:58","date_gmt":"2011-01-08T00:01:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/archives\/1814"},"modified":"2013-11-09T21:31:34","modified_gmt":"2013-11-09T21:31:34","slug":"muddy-ducks-and-other-wet-weather-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/muddy-ducks-and-other-wet-weather-friends\/","title":{"rendered":"Muddy Ducks and other wet weather friends&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->We&#39;ve had a lot of rain over the past few days and I encountered the strange sight of ducks eschewing the lake in favour of paddling around in the muddy paths.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ducks_0701115967.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The pigeons were enjoying the opportunity to bathe&#8230;<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/pigeon_0701115915.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>&#8230;but the greylags were stomping around in something of an ugly mood.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/greylag_goose_0701115987.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>It goes without saying that some birds did prefer the water, especially those who have perfect plumage to pamper. This one needs no introduction.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/swan_0701116121.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>This one might&#8230; it&#39;s a great crested grebe in its new (winter) coat.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/great_crested_grebe_0701116059.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>And a pair of red-crested pochards were arguing over a lake-weed lunch.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/red_crested_pochard_0701116029.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The herons were keeping their own counsel, as ever they do.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/heron_0701116042.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>All this in the heart of one of the busiest cities in the world&#8230;<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/heron_0701116134.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>On the home front, the young male fox was back.
