What a difference a little sunshine makes.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/lake_0302112590.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The birds excelled themselves and I really am spoilt for choice today. <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/gull_0302112563.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">Juvenile herring gull with a plastic cap (fortunately it didn&#39;t try to swallow it)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/whooper_swan_0302112579.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">Whooper swan, dozing at the edge of the water<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/black_headed_gulls_0302112594.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">A flock of black-headed gulls (to make up for not posting yesterday&#39;s shots)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/coot_0302112615.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">Coot on the run<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/great_crested_grebe_0302112763.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">A great-crested grebe about to dive<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For all those shots, I spent most of my time watching a pair of cormorants high in the treetops on the far side of the lake. Cormorants, and herons that is&#8230; sharing the space.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/cormorant_heron_0302112666.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/cormorant_heron_0302112672.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/cormorant_heron_0302112696.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/cormorant_heron_0302112699.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>That&#39;s the first time I&#39;ve seen cormorants in trees, and watching them perch alongside herons is really quite a bizarre sight. Both species have a deeply atavistic aspect to them. <\/p>\n<p>Is this really central London in the 21st century?<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/heron_0302112704.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Lastly. the little male fox came by a second time last night and I caught a little bit of the visit on video. I&#39;ll try to process the footage at the weekend.
