Witness this one embedding itself in the mass of developing spawn.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/newt_1703118568.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>She wasn&#39;t alone. This second female has laid claim to the whole sweetshop by the look of things!<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/newt_1703118587.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Where it&#39;s surviving this mass feeding frenzy (and plenty is surviving), the spawn is beginning to develop. The shape of the tadpoles is now becoming much more evident.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/spawn_1703118576.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The frogs have apparently abandoned their desultory defence of their young.
