I'll start with a little egret. I usually see these down at the coast, but like all waders they frequent wetland areas.

There were numerous Canada geese, though unlike the Falmer greylags they stayed well out of proper range of the camera. Up above I spotted a buzzard (being mobbed by crows) and a kestrel (also being mobbed). The crows dominated the sky, flocking along the hilltops but occasionally deigning to come down to pick around the meadows.

The grassland edging the waterways was home to a small herd of cattle and innumerable sheep. This little lamb was one of many, but its cheeky expression is one on its own.

And there were swallows. Everywhere. Skimming the fields and circling the treetops. I didn't get any decent shots over the fields, but I did manage these over the small car parking area.

Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

[980,1041,1004,1,989
44,206,702,1165
post-1937","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-birds-2","category-sheep-wildlife","category-south-downs-national-park-landscape-2","category-uncategorized","category-water-birds-birds-2","tag-crow","tag-lamb","tag-little-egret","tag-swallow","entry
["GET
