First a short sequence from this morning. The heron was standing in the shallow water as I drove up to the pond. I shot these from the car to avoid disturbing it. The fish might have preferred it if I had!

Those are taken from a much longer sequence, but I need to leave room for the adventures of Dylan. This was lunchtime, and Dylan is a dog. An elderly dog who had found his way into the water but wouldn't come out.

A small crowd had gathered on the shore to try to coax him in, but every time he came close he was distracted by the ducks. There was not a hope of him catching anything (except a cold), and it was really a matter of waiting for him to exhaust himself. He eventually emerged after about an hour and a half swimming around, just as the local fire service arrived to effect a rescue. <\/p>\n

As for the ducks, when he did approach they beat an orderly retreat!
