The heron was standing in the shallow water as I drove up to the pond. I shot these from the car to avoid disturbing it. The fish might have preferred it if I had!<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/heron_fish_2807117598.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/heron_fish_2807117602.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/heron_fish_2807117643.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Those are taken from a much longer sequence, but I need to leave room for the adventures of Dylan. This was lunchtime, and Dylan is a dog. An elderly  dog who had found his way into the water but wouldn&#39;t come out.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/dog_dylan_2807117704_b.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/dog_dylan_2807117745_b.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/dog_dylan_2807117723_b.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/dog_dylan_2807117804_b.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>A small crowd had gathered on the shore to try to coax him in, but every time he came close he was distracted by the ducks. There was not a hope of him catching anything (except a cold), and it was really a matter of waiting for him to exhaust himself.
