We have some caterpillar <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pupa\" target=\"_blank\">pupae<\/a>. They were discovered on Friday inside one of the garden sacks we use for taking green waste to the local recycling centre. The caterpillars were still visible then (they&#39;re green) but were already wrapping themselves inside silken cocoons as they prepared for their final metamorphosis. In this pupa stage they are protected as they develop the final form of the moth.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/pupae_1208112609.jpg' \/><\/span> <span class=\"aligncenter\">Caterpillar in cocoon<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another photo, this time from tonight (about 24 hours later).<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/pupae_1308112662.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>I promised something different tonight, and so a rare shot of another garden regular. A cat.
