{"id":2044,"date":"2011-09-06T23:09:56","date_gmt":"2011-09-06T22:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/archives\/2044"},"modified":"2013-11-08T00:00:59","modified_gmt":"2013-11-08T00:00:59","slug":"big-pond-and-little-pond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/big-pond-and-little-pond\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Pond and Little Pond"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->A day of unrelenting rain means that I&#39;ve a chance to include a few more shots from yesterday, the most striking addition to Falmer pond (apart from the rats) being these two floating sculptures which have appeared over the past week or so as part of an &#39;Art &amp; Soul&#39; exhibition.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/art_0509118435.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/art_0509118436.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Before I&#39;d seen the rats (but after I spotted the sculptures) I startled a sandpiper, which promptly flitted to the far end of the pond. Once there it settled down and I was able to get within moderate range.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/sandpiper_0509118382.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/sandpiper_0509118428.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/sandpiper_0509118836.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>And so to today&#8230;. This is the view through the kitchen window this afternoon.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/rain_0609118881.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The rain eventually stopped during the evening and &#8211; as you might expect &#8211; I&#39;ve had a quick prowl around the garden. No foxes, but the rain has topped up the garden pond nicely and &#8211; coincidence? &#8211; the young newts (still sporting gills) are out and about and busily feeding. As are the damselfly nymphs (though they risk being taken by the newts if they&#39;re not careful).<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/newt_0609118900.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/newt_0609118908.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/damselfly_nymph_0609118902.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>It feels like autumn has arrived. Will we get a late burst of summer?
