Cold, but sunny. Even the winds were low, although you wouldn&#39;t think so looking at the sea crashing into the defences at Rottingdean.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/sea_1712117109.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Down at ground level the local pipits were busy.  This first shot has an oddly urban feel to it, or maybe a lone character caught in a virtual game world searching for a way out.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/rock_pipit_1712117060.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>This is a more conventional shot of the same bird.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/rock_pipit_1712117091.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The black-headed gulls were active too.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/black_headed_gull_1712117112.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Less numerous is this next gull, which I think is a common gull in its winter plumage. It&#39;s smaller than the herring gulls, and lacks the herring gull&#39;s red spot on the beak.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/common_gull_1712117085.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>One bird I always look out for is the fulmar.
