The early mornings are still proving to be the best time of day, but even then the sun is rising so late in the morning that I'm barely getting to see it. So very little from early today, apart from this shot of a heron coming in to land at the edge of the pond. It's taken with a long shutter speed. It's not an excessively long shutter speed, but there was just enough motion to blur the background and some of the wing movement.

I had slightly better luck at lunchtime. The light was still poor, but a couple of the smaller birds were willing subjects. The bolder species are the pied wagtails, and this one was busy pecking seeds from along the edge of the water.

The long tailed tits are much more reserved, but this one stayed in view just long enough for a single shot.

In poor light, the one perfect bird to photograph is a white duck, and this one was extremely cooperative.

Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

[980
1160,1179,1182,120
post-2142","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-birds-2","tag-duck","tag-heron","tag-long-tailed-tit","tag-pied-wagtail","entry
["GET
