This is Sheepcote Valley, and here are two of the sheep.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/sheep_1001120975.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Brighton racecourse sits at the edge of the valley, and most mornings the local stables give their thoroughbreds a run out.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/race_horse_1001121042.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>But the morning is about bird song as much as anything else, and I don&#39;t mean the cackle of the mapgpie&#8230;<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/magpie_1001121002.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Or even the bright calling of the robin&#8230;<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/robin_1001120992.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The song that dominated this morning was from the aptly named song thrush. Smaller than the mistle thrush it has suffered a sharp decline in numbers in recent years and is now on our &#39;red list&#39;. The song thrush has a  bright repetitive song. It&#39;s simple but with a few small flourishes.
