The sun was rising over Falmer Pond&#8230;.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/sunrise_1601122168.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Just as the moon was setting&#8230;. <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/moon_trail_1601122223.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The pond itself was frozen&#8230;<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/duck_ice_1601122141.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/black_headed_gull_ice_1601122191.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>But the sun was emerging, adding its glint to the icy scene.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/black_headed_gull_ice_1601122185.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/gull_ice_1601122195.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Overhead, a cormorant flew over and circled the pond but declined to land. No fishing here today.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/cormorant_1601122243.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Quick shift to lunchtime. Still cold. Still frozen, But a little more active. <\/p>\n<p>A moorhen partners a black-headed gull to audition for Dancing on Ice \ud83d\ude09<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/moorhen_gull_ice_1601122296.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>But the competition is fierce.
