They tend to congregate around the flowering currant shrub, but this one was either lost or simply had a greater sense of adventure. I found it taking a stroll across the pond, using the weed and leaves as stepping stone. Odd behaviour, but it made for a nice couple of shots. The second shot is the same bee on a small stick that I&#39;ve left in the pond for the damselflies to crawl up when they emerge from the larval stage. <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/bee_0604128276.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/bee_0604128251.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The butterflies are slowly making their presence known. An orange-tip managed to evade the camera but this pretty speckled wood settled long enough for a shot.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/speckled_wood_butterfly_0604128288.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Later in the day I went over to Sheepcote Valley and was rewarded with a kestrel, though it seldom came in quite close enough to  get more than reference shots.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/kestrel_0604128360.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The crows were another matter&#8230; I swear this one winked at me as it flew past.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/crow_0604128410.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/crow_0604128413.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The final shot is of a magpie which is really doing nothing other than setting off the background.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/magpie_0604128467.jpg' \/><\/span> <br \/><span class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/button.php?u=Words\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" alt=\"Nature Blog Network\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/span><br \/><a title=\"site stats\" href=\"http:\/\/statcounter.com\/free-web-stats\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/c.statcounter.com\/7187219\/0\/2c644058\/1\/\" alt=\"site stats\" style=\"border:none;\" \/><\/a><br \/><i>Camera note: bee and butterfly shots taken with the Canon 7D  and EF 200mm f\/2.8L II USM.
