I was greeted by a guard of young gulls perched on the church wall.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/gull_2304121629.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>They soon moved away and my attention turned to the greylags at the water&#39;s edge. They were grouped around, and a pair were acting defensively whenever another approached. Here&#39;s one greylag &#39;goosing&#39; another.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/greylag_goose_2304121761.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>And then chasing it away across the pond.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/greylag_goose_2304121792.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The cause of all this activity was down to this tiny pair. They&#39;re the first hatchlings of the season.
