A few shots taken today on a crowded Brighton Beach. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the beach was crowded. Not a good time for photographing wildlife (which apart from the gulls tends to give the beach a wide berth at this time of year), but a welcome change after all the poor weather which, thankfully, is behind us. <\/p>\n

The wreck of the West Pier is in the distance in this next shot. I can remember when the pier was just beginning to collapse into the sea back in the 1970s. Some 40 years on, the sea and the occasional fire has done for most of the rest of it. All that remains is the skeletal metal frame.

For me the West Pier remains the most iconic image of Brighton.
