Meet Herbie Flowers,  the man responsible for the iconic bass line that graces Lou Reed&#39;s classic &#39;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XBXUP5GqYJs\" target=\"_blank\">Walk on the Wild Side<\/a>&#39;. <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/herbie_flowers_2708128059.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>And on guitar, another iconic figure from the 70s (and someone I saw play many times), Chris Spedding. Chris has played with just about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisspedding.com\/session\/ssn.htm\" target=\"_blank\">everyone worth playing with<\/a>, but I remember him best for his work with John Cale (the other half of the Lou Reed connection).<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/spedding_flowers_2708128055.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The music was an eclectic mix, jazzy with some standards thrown in. All good fun, and played to perfection. A real Bank Holiday treat in one of my favourite locations. <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/spedding_flowers_2708128040.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/spedding_flowers_2708128155.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>While I was checking some background info, I came across an album by a band called &#39;Design&#39; that both Herbie and Chris played on back in 1973. It&#39;s called &#39;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/video\/video.php?v=2015575824322\" target=\"_blank\">Day of the Fox<\/a>&#39; which just happens to be a permutation of the name of the most<a href=\"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/picofday.html\" target=\"_blank\"> popular page on my website<\/a>. \ud83d\ude09<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/fox_shutterbug_2708128268.jpg' \/><\/span> <br \/><span class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/natureblognetwork.com\/button.php?u=Words\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" alt=\"Nature Blog Network\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/span><br \/><a title=\"site stats\" href=\"http:\/\/statcounter.com\/free-web-stats\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/c.statcounter.com\/7187219\/0\/2c644058\/1\/\" alt=\"site stats\" style=\"border:none;\" \/><\/a><br \/><i>Camera note: band shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f\/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.
