{"id":2440,"date":"2012-11-07T23:11:23","date_gmt":"2012-11-07T23:11:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/archives\/2440"},"modified":"2013-11-03T00:42:30","modified_gmt":"2013-11-03T00:42:30","slug":"confused-birds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/confused-birds\/","title":{"rendered":"Confused birds"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I didn&#39;t even attempt to scale up to &#39;large birds&#39; for today, but I saw enough to warrant a small diversionary scheme, albeit with a little bit of repetition (just to prove the point).<\/p>\n<p>It all started in a fairly quiet way, down at the churchyard.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/churchyard_0711122739.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The jackdaws were happily posing.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/jackdaw_0711122758.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>And once again the black-headed gull were pretending to be perching birds.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/black_headed_gull_0711122800.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Then this. A high-speed sparrowhawk sweeping across the sky in search of prey&#8230;.  <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sparrowhawk_0711122745.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sparrowhawk_0711122741.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>But wait. Not everything is quite as it seems. Draw back the shot, and this is what I saw.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sparrowhawk_mistle_thrush_0711122745.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The prey turned hunter.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sparrowhawk_mistle_thrush_0711122755.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>That&#39;s a mistle thrush (living up to its nick-name of &#39;missile&#39; thrush) doing a fine job of chasing away the poor raptor. I do feel a little sorry for sparrowhawks.
