Apart from a period of about 20 minutes this morning, the light has been awful today. Luckily I caught most of those minutes. It wasn't bright, but the low early morning sun was casting a golden hue across the pond. A couple of cormorants were around as well, along with the ducks, gulls and geese. <\/p>\n

This shot, of a mallard, captures the quality of the light. It's why I love the early morning (or the minutes just before dusk).

I'll also include one of the greylags. There are three of them on the pond at the moment, but they are recent arrivals and seem to be setting themselves up for winter.

Within an hour the skies had darkened, and the rain had returned. Tonight it's dry (and cold). We'll see what tomorrow brings.
