{"id":2498,"date":"2013-01-16T00:01:59","date_gmt":"2013-01-16T00:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/archives\/2498"},"modified":"2013-11-02T16:53:00","modified_gmt":"2013-11-02T16:53:00","slug":"white-patch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/white-patch\/","title":{"rendered":"White Patch"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The cold nights are bringing clear skies in the morning (well, today they did), and the dawn views over Seven Sisters Country Park were beautiful.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/seven_sisters_1501134891.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>If you look closely you can see various gulls, cormorants and a heron in that shot. The cormorants were very active but I&#39;m trying hard not to post too many pictures of them. I am including this one though because it themes with a post from <a href=\"http:\/\/my.opera.com\/Words\/blog\/2013\/01\/08\/black-and-white\" target=\"_blank\">a week ago<\/a> and the condition of leucism.  In this case though the white patch and head aren&#39;t due to a genetic condition but are an indication that we are entering the cormorant&#39;s breeding season when they develop distinctive thigh patches.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/cormorant_1501134824.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Two more shots, both of a heron. The first one is interesting in giving an idea of scale. The heron is perched on the edge of the hedgerow which abuts the main road and I&#39;ve deliberately picked one which shows a passing vehicle.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/heron_1501134854.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The final shot  was taken just as the sun finally crept over the top of the Downs.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/heron_1501134960.jpg' \/><\/span> <br \/><span class=\"aligncenter\"><a
