It's still cold, but even a few extra degrees is welcome. Even better was that the sun eventually deigned to show its face. It was sporadic in the morning and the sky had clouded over again when I spotted a pair of buzzards flying over the garden. The gulls (and every other bird around) were giving them a wide berth as they headed out over the downs.

By the afternoon the clouds had finally given up and departed leaving some genuinely blue skies. This is the view of the cliffs at Saltdean looking towards Telscombe.
<\/span> <\/p>\n

The fulmars seem to have vanished, though they may simply have been out for the afternoon. The pigeons were lively though, with this trio up for a game of football.
<\/span> <\/p>\n

They weren't making much progress, and if the truth be told they are taking part in the slowest game ever seen. That ball hasn't moved at all in at least three years, possibly longer. It's tightly wedged in the goal, and no-one is shifting it. A jackdaw was taking on referee duties close by.

As the afternoon progressed the sun continued to shine, and back home there were plenty of small birds flitting around the garden. This is a goldfinch.
