Yesterday the pond at Falmer featured two of the larger visitors: a heron (and they don&#39;t really come much larger than this)&#8230;<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/heron_0307137853.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and a little egret. For a while I thought it was going to land, but instead it circled several times before heading off into the distance. <br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/little_egret_0307137955.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The heron was back there again today, shrouded in mist (I&#39;ve tidied up the  shot a bit) but happily gobbling down one of the local carp.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/heron_0407138240.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Over on campus the roofs are still l home to a variety of gull chicks. These are two of the lesser black-backed gulls.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/lesser_black_backed_gull_chick_0307137986.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>They are a couple of weeks younger than the herring gulls who are fast developing their flight feathers which gives them a rather untidy look. This young herring gull was relaxing on the edge of a green roof.<br \/><span class='imgcenter'><img alt='' src='https:\/\/www.permuted.org.uk\/photography\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/gull_chick_0407138318.jpg' \/><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>I can&#39;t leave this post without at least one picture of a fox.
