Constant drizzle and no chance of any photos at lunchtime. I was at my computer at work during the afternoon, and noticed some birdsong outside my window. Several bluetits were flitting around in the tree outside, brightening the gloom. Could I get any shots? Tricky. The part of the window that opens touches the tree canopy, so doesn't really open more than a couple of inches. And opening it would scare them away. Plus there's one of those sun filters on the glass which darkens everything even further. But the little beauties were inches away!

I gave in, turned off the internal lights to reduce reflection, got out the camera, cranked up to ISO 800 and fired away. Here's the results after a little software tweaking.

Through the filtered glass

Again through the glass

I finally opened up a crack in the window

[980
33,116
post-424","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-birds-2","tag-birds","tag-bluetit","entry
["GET
