Photographing our garden vixen has been a breeze. She turns up every evening and allows me to snap away for as long as I want. But the cubs have been another matter… until last night.<\/p>\n
Usually they scurry away as soon as they hear me, but last night I went outside with a large torch, and sat quietly by the edge of our small pond. After about 10 minutes I decided to switch the torch on to see if there were any cubs lurking in the bushes. It did the trick. One of them emerged, bold as brass to investigate the light. It trotted over to me, posed for pictures… responded to the 'squeaking' noises I was making to keep its attention. This lasted for about 5 minutes, ending with the cub exploring a flower bed by our back door, catching something (a slug, I think), and scurrying off with its kill.<\/p>\n
