As you'll have seen from yesterday's post<\/a> I finally saw a fox cub. But while I was out in the garden waiting for the cubs to emerge there was plenty of other life to keep me interested.<\/p>\n

<\/a>In the early evening I spotted a wren<\/a>, the first in the garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>And later a woodmouse<\/a> appeared on the feeder, making good use of the supports!<\/span><\/p>\n

For once, and this isn't a regular thing, we'd put out some dog food to see if we could tempt the larger mammals. Well we did, after a fashion. No sooner than I'd put the food out than a hedgehog emerged from under a shrub.<\/p>\n

Investigating<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

It was at this moment that Roofy the fox appeared. I missed the moment, but he crept up behind, sniffed at the rear of the hedgehog and decided that he wasn't going to mess! The hedgehog froze and hissed, but didn't curl into a ball. I was surprised at just how much noise they make. <\/p>\n

<\/span>Decent set of teeth<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> Roofy decided to show off instead<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> Hedgy wasn't impressed \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> So Roofy settled down to watch!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> And Hedgy just chomped away until the bowl was clean…<\/span><\/p>\n

The hedgehog seems to be a new resident in the garden. That's a couple of times now it's appeared at the back of the garden, worryingly close to the foxes' earth\/entrance (which seems to get bigger by the day… more earth was piled up this morning).
