I'm glad I did because while I was getting some boots from the car at lunchtime I noticed a regular criss-crossing of the area by a bird I hadn't seen before. There were several of them, brightly coloured but with the distinctive open-wing shape of a crow. The light wasn't great (actually it terrible), and most of the time they insisted on landing in thick foliage in the trees above me. But sometimes recording the event is more important than getting a great shot. The bird was, of course, a Jay. I presume I must have seen these before, but never knowingly and certainly not since I've been out and about with a camera. That's the joy of the artificial eye. It makes you open your real ones to what's around you.
Slightly over-processed, but definitely a Jay

This is the clearest shot I managed

There were some familiar faces in the garden tonight.
