Dreamachine Plans - 45rpm version - download page

Brion Gysin Welcome to the Dreamachine download page.

Brion Gysin and Ian Sommerville originally designed their Dreamachine Plans for use with a 78rpm record deck. In view of the increasing difficulty in locating working 78rpm decks, the plans published with Flickers of the dreamachine were re-designed for use with a 45rpm deck. Those revised plans are now available here. The files in the package include full instructions on how to build your own dreamachine. In addition to the instructions, you'll need a 45rpm turntable and a light source. I've also included some image files you might want to use as a desktop background.

Simply click on the link below to start the download of the dreamachine plans (288kb).

Once downloaded, simply click on the file (it's called dream-45.exe). A window will open. You should then click on the 'extract' button. The programme is set-up to ensure that you'll be asked if you want to overwrite any files. All this means is that if you already happen to have a folder or files with the same name you'll have an opportunity to stop the process.

Once you've hit the extract button, a confirmation box will show. Click 'ok'. The readme text (readme.txt) includes full instructions on how to use the files. It should open automatically, but if it doesn't you'll be able to find it (and the files) in the folder C:\dream on your hard drive.

If you are using a Mac and can't run .exe files, try this zipped version.

You'll also need an Acrobat Reader to open the main file. If you don't already have it on your machine, you can download it for free from here.
