It seems an age since I last saw the foxes in the garden (well almost two weeks), but tonight my patience was rewarded. The sun had set, and late today the Cheeky vixen quietly slipped into the garden.
She didn't stay for long, and seemed to be keeping a watchful eye out for the local cats (which had been in and out all evening), or perhaps the badger which has been through several times in the past couple of weeks.
I'll continue to monitor Cheeky and the other foxes on the trail cam (glinting in the corner of this final shot), but there's nothing quite like a direct sighting.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens.

15 Oct 2010Rania, I'd seen the cats a few minutes earlier. Two of them were in the garden, so I think she could hear them.

15 Oct 2010Darko, yes foxes are roughly cat-sized, and Cheeky is quite small anyway.

16 Oct 2010She's got quite a stubby nose! And her coat seems to be getting thick already 🙂

17 Oct 2010Adele, she's getting prepared for winter. She still turns up sometimes with the young dog fox, but he is still playing hard to get (with the camera). I see them together on the trail cam.
