Out of focus, under exposed, but my shot of the day…

My first badger

Edit: here's the trailcam footage of when I disturbed the badger by going outside. I'd seen the infrared lights but wasn't able to see what had triggered it until I got quite close.

I was looking at that device and thought: This couldn`t be a badger 😆 Then I saw it in shadow 🙂
It is morning and I am still drinking my first coffee 😛

Yes it's there in the background. The trail cam picked up the moment it saw me and ran to the back of the garden. They are surprisingly fast! It did come back later so is obviously not too worried by being disturbed.

:hat: Congratulations! Terribly hard creatures to get on camera!

I wonder if you just have the one badger, or your trail cam has actually been picking up various members of the same sett

Adele, good question about the badger(s). It's difficult to tell whether it's one or more given the low quality of the footage. I'll have to take a close look to see if I can pick out any differences in features.

    Thanks. I'll check it out

You may also want to check their tail shape. Female badgers have much narrower tails than the boars.

Oops, sorry, according to this it's actually the other way around

Could be a male then. That looks like a narrow tail to me on the video.

Thanks Neil. I've now had a few garden encounters but they continue to spook the camera. This time I was just set up all wrong for the shot.

Great photo! 😀 I heard a few Bats at the villa in Majorca, too dark to catch them on camera but was fun flashing all over the place lol!

Thanks Mark… Photographing bats though… it's enough to drive you completely batty! I've tried once or twice with the ones that fly over the garden but I've never got anywhere near. Looking forward to seeing the photos you did manage.
