I stopped off to see the house martins and swallows this morning on the way to work. More of them in a moment, but the first thing I saw, out in the middle of the field, were a pair of grazing deer.
But the martins and swallows were the reason I was there, and they didn't disappoint.

Swallow
No sign of the cub this evening (yet), but he did visit again last night after I'd gone in so I'm hopeful of more opportunities to get to know him better over the coming weeks.
Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens.

5 Aug 2009Wonderful shots. I know how hard they are to photograph. I haven't had much success yet, but shall continue trying.

5 Aug 2009Neil, the main problem I've had is that in the morning when they gather I'm the wrong side of the sun. I may see if there's a way I can get round to the other side of the hedgerow.

5 Aug 2009Robin, it's taken a long time to find the site, but once I was there it was reasonably straightforward (if you discount the 100 or so blurred, blank and indistinct images I also got) 😉

6 Aug 2009That martin looks like it's creeping up on the perched swallow! :right:

6 Aug 2009Yes, but that grin on the swallow's face makes me think it knows!
