I stopped off to see the house martins and swallows this morning on the way to work. More of them in a moment, but the first thing I saw, out in the middle of the field, were a pair of grazing deer.

But the martins and swallows were the reason I was there, and they didn't disappoint.

House Martin

Swallow

No sign of the cub this evening (yet), but he did visit again last night after I'd gone in so I'm hopeful of more opportunities to get to know him better over the coming weeks.

  1. Wonderful shots. I know how hard they are to photograph. I haven't had much success yet, but shall continue trying.

  2. Are they already gathering for migration?

  3. Very nice photos. 😀

  4. Oh great stuff – I sympthise with Robin at the mo, there tricky things to capture

  5. Darko, that's the idea, but hopefully they'll stay around for a little while yet.

  6. Neil, the main problem I've had is that in the morning when they gather I'm the wrong side of the sun. I may see if there's a way I can get round to the other side of the hedgerow.

  7. Thanks Mark!

  8. Robin, it's taken a long time to find the site, but once I was there it was reasonably straightforward (if you discount the 100 or so blurred, blank and indistinct images I also got) 😉

  9. That martin looks like it's creeping up on the perched swallow! :right:

  10. Yes, but that grin on the swallow's face makes me think it knows!
