I'll start with a short video. Yesterday I mentioned I could hear some fox 'chattering' during the evening, though maybe it might better be thought of as serenading given the time of year. This clip is the likely pair, caught at around 1.20am by the trail cam. The fox with the high-held brush is displaying dominant signal.
As for photography, the rain has put paid to most of that for today, though not entirely. The skies opened when I was re-setting the trail cam but I took the opportunity to take some quick shots of the pond. I love the way the rain breaks up the surface, creating a wonderful mosaic of colour.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100mm f/2.8L macro IS USM lens. Fox footage captured by the Bushnell Trophy Cam.

18 Jan 2011Good quality again on the trailcam. I still haven't replaced mine. I'll probably just have the new one sent to Canada, anyway.
The pond is very artistic!

18 Jan 2011That fox may be trying to be dominant, but the other one isn't acting all that submissive. More "not bothered at all".

19 Jan 2011Beauty all around! The fox couple is so lovely to watch. The colours and texture in the pond really make a beautiful picture.

19 Jan 2011Darko, the first time I photographed the pond like that was by accident (I was trying to photograph a newt), but it does work remarkably well.

19 Jan 2011Adele, it's probably a lot cheaper to get them out there anyway. Prices here are shocking for what they are. The pond was desperation for something to photograph, but I do like the effect.

19 Jan 2011Mick, 'not bothered at all' is about the size of it. They seem to be a regular couple those two. Sweet
