It was back to Rottingdean Beach today. The oystercatchers were engaging in an afternoon buffet.

Of course there are more than just the oystercatchers to see. The fulmars are still quite at home…

And a lone grebe was fishing out at sea (a first sighting for me!)…

The pipits were feeding among the sea weed…

And far in the distance, someone was walking on water….

  1. All beautiful shots! I love the oyster catchers. The fulmars are great too with their big open mouths!

  2. It can`t be that shallow so people could walk there :eyes:

  3. Lovelly photos! I went for a short walk along Bognor seafront and took a photo of a grioup of Gulls sitting on the sea. 😛 Afterwards i went swimmimg…………. in the local pool of course not the sea! 😆

  4. Darko, and he can't be surfing (the sea was flat). Maybe he's putting up a wind-board? I don't know. I didn't see him until I looked at the photos.

  5. Thanks Lois. I could wathc both the fulmars and oystercatchers for hours. The fulmars look so at home up in the cliff face, but the oystercatchers have a wonderfully comical look abou them.

  6. Mark, yes it was a much nicer day on Saturday than today (grey and misty most of the time). It's great to get down to the sea though, whatever the weather. And I wouldn't swim in it either. Far too cold!

  7. No, he looks like he is walking :eyes: Wizard Merlin, by any chance?

  8. great photos. Ive only come across one oystercatcher that was willing to be photographed, and that was in looe harbour where I guess they are accustomed to silly tourists, so Im alway impressed with good photos of them.

As for the man on water, other than previous suggestions all I can think of is a kit surfer (kites out of shot or in the water) or a cameo by Jesus! 😆

  9. Darko, I've done a 100% crop.

  10. The oystercatchers are great but that's a lovely shot of the pipit!

  11. Neil, I didn't see any kites about (red, or otherwise  ). I wish I'd spotted him when I was taking the photo… he was just a dot in the distance.

  12. Adele, thanks! It's such a lovely spot at the moment… always a good variety to see.

  13. It looks so unreal

  14. Great birds
And the man is :eyes:  …unreal indeed!

  15. Thanks Anna! Yes, the man is very odd :alien:
