I'll do a photographic post later, but these are some compilations from the trail cam taken over the past two nights. In the first one the blizzard is at full force during the initial sequence. Things are altogether more calm in the second video.
I've failed miserably to get any photos of foxes in the snow (they are made to be photographed in snow), but Sitting Fox has had rather more success.

20 Dec 2009The seem not to care too much about a blizzard  I guess they are eating something you left there. Do they know it is a food there from a previous experience or they could actually smell it under the snow?

20 Dec 2009Lovelly videos 😀
Darko i tried this trick with Benjie, i had a piece of leftover fish and wrapped a snowball around it and gave it to him, was funny to watch him bat it about with is paw and smelling it before finally crunching the snowball with his teeth to finally get to it 😆

20 Dec 2009LOL, thanks, but I'm still desperate to get a photo of a fox-in-snow in daylight
Nice videos 🙂 The second fox in the first video looks a bit mottled. Is it wet, or does it have bare patches?
And the fox in the second video is looking very solid 🙂

20 Dec 2009Darko, they know there's likely to be some food, but they may have been able to smell it through the snow. It was quite well buried by then.

20 Dec 2009Mark, dogs have a great sense of smell. I'm sure foxes do too.

20 Dec 2009Adele, I noticed those patches on the second fox. It's hard to tell from the cam whether it's matted or whether there are bald patches. The current visitors are unhelpfully shy so I've not had a chance to see it in the flesh.

20 Dec 2009Adele, I've just checked last nights footage. Those same patches are there on the fox, so those probably are bare patches. Not nice in this weather. I'll keep an eye out though chances of a live sighting a perishingly small.
