I've just come in from watching Roofy and the cub out in the garden for a good 40 minutes (and 70+ photos). Roofy showed up first, but something startled him and he shot across the garden and away. The cub then emerged and was sniffing around the back of the garden while we were sitting low down watching. I only realized Roofy had returned when I felt a firm nudge on my shoulder! Cheeky blighter 🙂 And it sure made me jump! Which made the foxes run.

They weren't gone for long, and we were then treated to Roofy once again being the perfect parent. We were only a handful of feet away from this intimate interaction between parent and cub (for the technically minded the lens was zoomed to a very moderate 67mm, the flash set to underexpose by 2/3rds, shutter at 1/200 and aperture at f/10).

Time for a quick clean

Don't forget to wash behind the ears

Cleaning up some bark that was attached where it shouldn't be!

And off to explore

:eyes: He's as bold as anything. 😆

  2. I think things that bump or scare us in the night has got to be either Roofy or another fellow Fox lol! 😛

Lovelly pics of Roofy and Roofy Junior! 😀

    Wonderful set of shots

  4. Yes, that is an interesting photo story about father and son.
Beautiful photos (as always) and nice texts. 🙂

  5. What a lovely sequence! Roofy does seem to be a very good father – presumably this is his first litter too, given his age? (Nudging you is still very cheeky, though )

  6. Thanks! Roofy is such a good dad, quite unlike his own father (the 'old dog fox'). And Adele, you're right, this is his first litter. I must go back through last year's photos and see if I can identify him among all the cubs. Won't be easy though…
