Just a very brief post tonight, but t afternoon we had a large flock of swifts feeding high above our garden. There were well over 100 wheeling and diving overhead, too many to get in one frame but these two shots give an idea.
And one of Shy Boy, the fox cub relaxing last night…
Now back to the Olympic Opening Ceremony, which after a slow start has me gripped. Much better than I expected (though the first 20 minutes were baffling and bizarre).
Camera note: swifts taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. Fox taken with the EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS lens.

Actually, I don't think anyone lives in Detroit anymore …

1 Aug 2012dW, to be honest I ave little idea of what insects fly at those heights, but there must be a lot for the swifts to be gathering like that. There may well be some young ones up among them (which might account for the number).
