Not one of mine (you'll see why). I stumbled across it while googling. I presume it's been grabbed from a documentary film.

31 Jan 2006Hello Words,
Did you see that article in the press recently? I think it was either in the Indie or Grauniad. It was about the shooting of 'townie' foxes. A side column suggested that if this went on other foxes will simply take the places of the 'culled' foxes. I hope I have paraphrased the news article more or less correctly. Just wondered if you had written about this (if you have, forgive me as I have not backtracked through your archive).
Regards,
lokutus
PS: You will know that I live in the Hampshire countryside. Is your county near mine?

31 Jan 2006Hi Lokutus,
I hadn't seen the article but found it here. By all accounts, culling doesn't work, especially where the fox population is quite healthy. I'm glad that he does release when he can but it really is a futile exercise. I sincerely hope he doesn't re-locate or shoot foxes when the cubs are born. The simplest way to move foxes on is to mildly disturb their earth. They don't like draughts and will move on to somewhere else.
I'm in Sussex by the way.
