Autumn is on its way, but hasn't quite yet reached the south coast. It's surprisingly mild and tomorrow we're promised temperatures in the upper 70s. I'm not sure what effect this will have on fox activity, but we are currently plagued with Crane Fly (Daddy Long Legs) and spiders. The spiders are fine in the garden, which is where they get removed to when they wander inside. They're also easier to catch than the Daddy Long Legs, but so far I've resisted the swatting approach. All this preamble is really to introduce a great idea started by Volkuro to start an Autumn Photo Network. I'll be joining in as soon as the season changes here.

Meanwhile, the unseasonal weather means our frogs are still quite active, and I've taken the relative lack of fox activity as an opportunity to photograph them.

I had a brief sighting of one of the young foxes last night (too far off to photograph), so I'm afraid it's yet more pictures of my old chum the dog fox. From the way he was behaving tonight I think another fox (one of the young ones?) may still be lurking, and in a couple of shots I saw the distinctive flash of white-eye up on a nearby flat roof. Terrible shots as it happens, so not included here. We were definitely being watched though.

Edit: It's just after midnight and the youngster showed up. I've been keeping an eye on this one as he has a small wound near his front left shoulder. Otherwise he's looking in great shape, but may be nervous about hanging around due to the old fella. Anyway he wasn't going to pose tonight so this is about the best of the shots.

  1. Oh, I know that spider problem very good.
We had already a lot of spiders in our home. But I have done a big house cleaning and hope, that I could catch they all…

Your frog photos made me smile: I like frogs so much. And that are very nice photos.
Now I'm looking forward to your autumn pics. Nice to read, you will be also an APN member.
