The fox has been around a couple of times this evening, no doubt pleased that the fireworks have ceased. As it happens, he didn't seemed too bothered by the noise of the fireworks over the weekend and was happy enough to stay in the garden while rockets were flying around overhead. I guess they get used to it. He's far more skittish when the wind is high.
Our usual routine is either that I look out of the window and he's there, or I have to wait for a while to see if he'll show up. But last night and tonight he appeared almost instantly I went outside, and trotted at speed toward me down the length of the garden. And then later on he was sitting on the lawn facing the door when I had a quick peek out of the window. All this preamble is really just an excuse to post another picture (taken this evening).

9 Nov 2005This portait is simply one of the best. Do you bother with red-eye? May not be an issue in fox. There are very few mini-rockets or fireworks here in Courtenay B.C. yet our black lab cross shows a pronounced fear.
We think the fear was aquired from a previous life. We have had Max since he was a puppy and there never was any fireworks incident to instill any intense fear.
Amazing that your fox are more blause about gunpowder sounds than our domesticated pet dog. Max is a mix of Lab, border collie, and we suspect a possible percentage of Coyote. That could explain things.

9 Nov 2005That photo is simply reduced in size… and slightly cropped. No messing about with it at all.
I occasionally try to tidy up red-eye (which with the fox tends to be a major flash of white or blue light, rather than red) but to be honest I find it a fairly time-consuming task so only do it if I'm really pushed for an image.
Our old dog (collie cross) used to completely ignore fireworks. No fear of them at all. He'd happily go for a walk on November 5th with the rockets flying all around. Think he must have had a WW1 ancestor working in the trenches 😉 Mind you, a flapping bit of plastic bag or bunting would have him quaking with fear.
