This one had me baffled. I've heard about (and struggled against) the school run, but I wasn't expecting our local greylags to be on hand to show how it should be done. Get all the kids gathered together. Form a crocodile. One adult at each end, and then – when the road is clear – walk quickly across the road to the safety of the other side.

Add in a light breakfast, strictly organic, and the kids are set up for the day.

In the nearby field, the young rabbits are out playing in the morning sunshine.

And a lone sandpiper stands watch by the water's edge.

Close to the bank, the young moorhens are feeling a little bolder.

They even venture out for a little swim.

The ducklings are their cheerful little selves, perhaps sharing a joke with the seagull overhead that chose to use me for target practice and scored a bullseye! Messy :yuck:

And lurking in a quiet corner, still as a rock and as inscrutable, the terrapin sits and waits.

  13. Mick, the bunnies were the perfect early morning image. Just so playful!

  14. Lois, yes you really could put words to some of those pictures, but I'm lazy so I doubt it will ever happen. 🙂

  15. Darko, the young rabbits can be very cute when they are busy like that.

  16. Adele, the geese were too good a shot to miss. As for the seagulls, it's almost surprising that it doesn't happen more often. At least I wasn't looking up.

  17. Robin, thanks. Just catching up with comments here, but yes the pond has proved very fruitful.

  18. Interesting Pict….
