This is a bit of a mixed bag tonight. The starlings are very active at the moment feeding their broods. Starlings are probably the noisiest of our garden birds, with a wide array of song, ranging from clicking and general 'chattering' to swooping whistles. There are several new photos of them in the May Birds album, including these.

I must admit it's strange what you notice once you've got a camera in your hand. I'd never given much thought to insect mating habits (well why would I), but these days I keep my eyes open for new insects or unusual behaviour. Anyway, today's insect shot comes with a 'mature audience' warning:
There are several more new photos (of butterflies and moths) in the Butterflies and Bugs album.
As for the foxes, well still no sightings of cubs, though I did spot a fox trotting between gardens about half a mile away from here this afternoon. No camera though :(. And the back of the garden has undergone further excavations. The pile of soil by the entrance to what seems to be an unused earth has grown again. Entrance to the earth
And what's more, bizarre gifts have started appearing outside the entrance. Now either this is a present for a vixen, or we have a family of bank robbing foxes living nearby. I really wouldn't want to hazard which.Stocking
Well I had to end on a fox… from this afternoon.

22 May 2007It is really nice that you could take pictures for so many animals in your own garden. I also like to take fotos for animals, but could only go to the zoo, which is far away from home.
