After the trail cam revelation of five cubs (see previous post), a little bit of drizzle tonight wasn't going to deter me from spending some time outside. Rain is hardly ideal for night photography (the water defracts the flash and tend to wash out the shots), but if you can get close enough the effect is less noticeable, and adjusting the levels slightly more than usual brings out the contrasts. The most important element of any shot is the subject… and mine behaved impeccably. Mum plus one

Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens.

17 May 2010Now… What if, in time, they start to grow families on their own… in your garden? :eyes:

17 May 2010I assume your challenge for this summer is to get mum and five cubs in one photo?
Anyway, just marvellous 😀 I've only found one litter of cubs this year (and they're not photo-friendly because they like coming out at night down a dark lane!) so it's great to be able to watch these ones on your blog 🙂

17 May 2010Adele, mum +5 would be great. Highly unlikely though from past experience. But yes, that's the challenge… or even just the male fox!

17 May 2010Darko, that would be nice, but I don't think they will. I would need to build a shed so they could dig underneath it :right:
