I promise to get back to the foxes soon, but today has been very froggy. There was spawn in the pond this morning, and more appeared throughout the day. The frogs were hyperactive and at one point I counted 16 on the surface of the pond (which is quite small), and that doesn't include several regulars (honestly, I can identify at least a couple of them!).
I haven't sorted through all the photos yet, but this one gives a good idea of the general activity. Five frogs sprawling over the spawn, and a curious newt in the foreground.

26 Feb 2007I'm sure a few froglets will find the foxes a predator too far, but the frogs do well overall in what's a small garden pond.
We made it over to wildlife about 6 years ago (it had fish when we moved here), and the frogs seem to thrive. The pond has been here a few years longer than that, and there are ponds in neighbouring gardens as well. So a good environment overall for them (apart from the foxes, that is).
