This first sequence was taken before work this morning, at Falmer Pond. It was a bright start, and at this time of the year the sun is still relatively low in the sky. All the better for bringing out the rich colours as a group of greylags took off from the water and flew out across the Downs.
The sunshine held until lunchtime, and the fine winter weather persuaded me to venture out to the farms at the edge of Falmer. No foxes or buzzards today, but down in the valley a lone roe deer, sporting new antlers, was quietly grazing.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

19 Feb 2013A nice morning, Words … I somehow get the impression that the buck didn't quite trust you.

20 Feb 2013Fourth photo, is it in front of that pub again? 😛

20 Feb 2013dW, the buck was a long way away. It may have suspected I was around but I doubt it could see, hear or smell me.

21 Feb 2013The geese in the first photo look like they're about to have a mid-air collision! Fine-looking buck, and in summer moult as well. Hopefully he wasn't too shocked by the snow this morning :right:

23 Feb 2013Adele, the geese just about managed to avoid crashing. They could do with some lessons from the local starlings. The snow today was a bit of a surprise, but thankfully we've only received a light dusting. It's bitterly cold in the wind though.
