We'll start with Shutterbug, who I am going to assume is 'Dad'. Here he is last night. The bright flash in the background is my camera flash, photographing him from the other side.

The second member of the family, and really the most important, is Mama Vixen. She's still very shy, but is a regular on the trail cam images.

The third member of the family is the subordinate vixen, possibly a sibling of Mama Vixen, her role will be to help out with the cubs. Due to the relatively poor state of her brush (and as an early means of differentiating the two females) she's become known as the Skinny Vixen. She's as shy as Mama, but an equally frequent trail cam subject.

There are two more (at least) members of this particular tribe. Very small, but ever so cute. There may be more of them, but I can't be sure yet.

One last shot in this selection. Mama and Cub.

  1. Excellent, Words! You now have documented evidence that the … uh, "pack" is developing. To make up for the lack of colour:
    Franz Marc's foxes

  2. Great to see the cubs again. I can feel the Mama Vixen's exhaustion :ko:

Looks like an ID parade of this family should focus on the brushes!

  3. If Shutterbug is dad then Rooftop fox could be grandpa? 😛

  4. dW, wow that is an amazing painting, and got me googling to find out more about Franz Marc. I'd not come across him before, but this is stunning. I absolutely love it. Thanks!!!

  5. Darko, it is certainly very possible, though foxes are anything but faithful!
