True to form, Sunday's day of sun was followed by a truly dismal Monday. Low temperatures, high winds, grey skies and rain. Always the rain. One of the most dismal days of this dire summer. Not even a sighting of a fox to make up for it!

The best I can do are these few cold little creatures making the best they can of a bad lot.

I don't even hold out much hope for the trail cam tonight 😉

The better news is that the jet stream (the band of air that is causing all this 'weather') is predicted to start migrating north, putting us on its warmer south side by next week. That's how things should be. We'll have to wait and see, but I suspect I'm not alone in wishing it would get a move on.

  1. We've had 0.76" of rain in the past three months. Stop yer complainin'.

  2. At least that slug has nothing against rainy days 😛

  3. Darko, we have something like a 200% increase in slugs this year… they are everywhere which can make walking around the garden quite tricky :yuck:

  4. dW, it looks as though the rain may finally be coming to an end here. I've asked politely that it head in your direction!

  5. While Norfolk seems to have got off slightly more lightly than the rest of the country, it's starting to get like November up here too. The Yare is very high and one of the ponds on my usual walk has overflowed, creating a new stream straight across the footpath.

A few sunny days would probably be appreciated by most wildlife.

  6. Well, for what it's worth, we had a thunderstorm this morning. Gone now, and hotter than Billy-be-damned, but maybe ¾" of rain.

  7. dW, the weather is due for a change over the next week. Let's hope we both get more seasonal weather, a little closer to the norm.

  8. Adele, I'm surprised we haven't had more flooding locally to be honest. Falmer Pond is filled to the brim (it usually has several metres of pathway around it at this time of year, but it hasn't quite breached its banks.

And yes please to some sun!
