Not quite, but the light today was truly dreadful so a smaller post this evening. I had hoped to photograph the foxes, but no sign of them after the best part of an hour looking. So just a couple of shots, taken into deep shade across the lake. For the technically minded, they were taken at ISO 800, f/7.1, shutter 1/320s (manual settings, and heavily under exposed).

If you look carefully, as well as the Egyptian geese coming in to land, there are several other birds in the shot: a coot, a gull and a cormorant. Click on the images for larger versions of the shots.

Camera note: both shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

  1. Even with bad light they look clear

  2. Great shots, especially considering the light. What a wonderful variety of birds.

  3. Interesting! The fotos remember me to that:

    behind our house. 🙂

  4. I don't like taking pictures on days like that :insane:

But they've come out well enough

  5. Erwin, thanks!

  6. Adele, it's not my favourite way of taking photos, but it's been dull so often that I'm improving my technique bit by bit!

  7. 7Wellis, that's behind your house! Great 😀

  8. Lois, yes it's a nice spot.Even better with some light 😉

  9. Darko, thanks! I think these long shots work better in poor conditions. You lose a little bit of detail, but I quite like the overall darkness.

  10. Wow Great
