The good weather continues…
A jay flies across an open field

In the distance, a buzzard with prey

A more sedate moment as two pheasants take an afternoon stroll past the sheep

The greenfinches are back in the garden

And the crows are on watch

In the pond the spawn has 'spawned', and tiny tadpoles are now flittering across the surface of the pond.

Camera note: all the bird shots taken with the EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens. The tadpoles were taken with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro and EM-140 DG ring flash.

  1. Nice photos – it's good to see the buzzard in its habitat! I'm still waiting for them to properly move in up here. Maybe we have too many trees! They do seem to prefer open hillsides.

  2. How do you know it has a prey in its claws?
Maybe I should change my glasses :left:

  3. Nice set of pics. The tadpoles are coming along

  4. Darko, it's the shape hanging below the bird… it's too big to be its talons. This is about the best crop I could get.

  5. Adele, yes buzzards seem to like hilly areas. I'm still waiting for the red kites to arrive down here :wait:

  6. Neil, the tadpoles are doing great… more shots of them soon.

  7. Yes, I could see it on the first photo too, but I thought it is tail. Thanks 🙂

  8. It would be interesting to know what that was. Great pictures!

  9. Lois, I can't figure out what it is (I've tried)!

  10. Nesting material??

  11. Lois… possible :sherlock:

  12. Thanks Erwin!

  13. Great shots
