After the previous post, a short sequence of some small birds I saw today out on the Downs.
A skylark

A wren

A whitethroat

And a whitethroat fledgling 😉

The garden has been a little less frantic over the past week. I've had less time, and the cubs are beginning to range more widely. They're still out there of course and easily the boldest of the pack is the young vixen with a distinctively dark stripe on her muzzle.

Camera note: all bird shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. The fox was photographed with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens.

  1. She gave you a devilish look on that photo  😀

  2. Such beautiful shots! I love the skylark and the wren definately looks like she has a bit of a smug attitude. 🙂

  3. Certainly starting to get that adult lanky look.

Great bird sequence. Always nice to see a whitethroat

  4. Darko, oh she's a little devil for sure

  5. Adele, the cubs are growing so quickly.

The whitethroats had a nest someone in all that undergrowth. The adults were coming back and forth constantly. I could hear a lot more than I could see without disturbing them.

  6. Lois, wrens are great. Very noisy, and so aggressive for such tiny little things. 😆

  7. I particularly like the pretty birds (and a fox cub). 😉

  8. Thanks Vulpes!
