It's the weekend of the annual Shoreham Airshow, which means we get a free preview as the planes fly in to the local airfield ready for the weekend. The spitfire shown here dates back to April 1942 and flew with 315 and 317 squadrons. It also was the template for the replicas built for the Battle of Britain film.

Fading into the clouds

At one time the Spitfire would have been a common sight over the South Downs. These days you are rather more likely to come across a fox…
The Bold Vixen

I saw her from the window, and went out to say hello as it's about a week since she's been around in the middle of the evening. She's such a friendly fox, and came trotting happily down the garden. She stayed for 10 or 15 minutes, relaxing and grooming, before wandering off to see what else the night has to offer.

Camera note: the spitfire was photographed with the EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens. I used the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM for the shots of the vixen.
